Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting
(ARFF) While not required of general aviation airports, the
Greeley-Weld County Airport voluntarily provides Aircraft Rescue and
Firefighting (ARFF) services to enhance the safety and operational
capabilities of the airport. ARFF services are provided on a limited
basis, and upon specific request by any aircraft operator.

The
airport ARFF station is located immediately adjacent to the terminal
building, and houses two (2) rapid intervention aircraft rescue and
firefighting vehicles. Each vehicle, described further below, meets
the FAA's ARFF Index A standards on its own.
Certain employees of the
Greeley-Weld County Airport Authority are cross trained and fully certified
by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as aircraft rescue
firefighters. Additionally, the Greeley-Weld County Airport has an
on-going relationship with the Union Colony Fire Rescue Authority (UCFRA)
for mutual aid and other support. A number of UCFRA firefighters
are also fully FAA certified aircraft rescue firefighters, train
annually with the airport's firefighters, and are also cross trained to
operate the airport's ARFF apparatus.
ARFF APPARATUS:
ARFF services are generally available during normal business hours most
days and upon request. Aircraft operators who require ARFF services
as a condition of operating at the Greeley-Weld County Airport, including
after hours, can pre-arrange for the service. Additionally, air
ambulance operators who require an ARFF standby during fueling while
patients are on-board the aircraft, can also pre-arrange for this service.
Call (970) 336-3000 during normal business hours for questions concerning
ARFF hours of operation, or to pre-arrange the availability of ARFF
services.
